The Comfy Train was founded in October 2008 by Ashley Williams.
The idea came when Ashley was travelling home from Portsmouth using South West Trains to Cosham then First Great Western to Bristol.
Ashley was sat at Coasham station with time to spare and wondered if there was a website that reviewed train operators.
Ashley decided to set up The Comfy Train to review train operators because he had a comfortable ride on a Class 450 to Cosham.
The Comfy Train was founded in October 2008 and had a simple HTML website using iFrames reviewing each train operator in the UK at the time.
After about 11 months the plan backfired as Ashley did not travel around as much as he had hoped so the site was taken offline in 2009.
In 2010 the website came back online hoping to work with another website to review train operators and the services they provide such as First Class and other on board services.
However time was against Ashley and he decided to close the site again.
In July 2011 Ashley decided to launch the site again providing useful train information including Updates from National Rail Enquires via Twitter details of Train Operators on Twitter and information such as Station and Train Operator Codes.
The site also provides railway news from other various sites on the internet and reviews Train Operators and their services.
